Wedding Crashers

This work of fan fictions illustrates a monologue from the movie The Wedding Crashers with a type treatment that personifies the voice of the character.

Fight Club

Completed as a college project, this kinetic type uses graphic elements to derive meaning from words by complimenting the text with visual indexes. Also note the visual repetition of text through the use of color.

Tom Waits

Created under the rubric of a one minute school assignment, this video integrates more traditional pictorial animation with kinetic type. This more heavily stylized animation overtly asserts the artist’s interpretation of the poem.

Ford Advertisement

This nationally syndicated advertisement is an example of how kinetic type has established itself as an effective means of communication in the mass media market. Specific techniques employed in the ad include illustrative type and pictorial representations of text.

Typophile Opening Credits

Perhaps the most unique example, this opening credit to a typographic film festival does not have the benefit of a voice to support the treatment of type.
